Home Insurance for Vacation Properties

Vacation property home insurance is designed for vacation properties such as cottages, camps and etc. Homeowners should consider buying the vacation property insurance if they want to protect their investment. The home insurance for vacation property is different than the home insurance for the primary home.

Many insurance companies will offer coverage for your vacation property if your home is already insured with them. The vacation property can be listed as a secondary location. With vacation property insurance, a named perils policy is used because you will only stay in the house occasionally. Some of the named perils that are covered in the vacation property home insurance include fire, explosion, fence damage, landscape damaged, food in the refrigerator, and etc. The insurance company will only cover a limited list of perils for the vacation home.

If you want more coverage, you have to pay more. The types of coverage which are not normally included in the vacation property home insurance include water damage, and vandalism. The insurance company did not want to offer more coverage because of the expensive repair cost.

If your vacation property doesn’t worth much money, you can buy the third party liability home insurance. The third party liability home insurance will offer coverage against the law suit fee and medical fee if a visitor accidentally becomes injured while at your home.

The vacation property insurance includes limited coverage against the contents that remain permanently in the vacation home. If the content will be brought back and forth, the primary home insurance will cover it.
